Heniangioma of the Duodenum with Gastrointestinal Bleeding

Abstract
|
|
|
Hemangioma of the intestine is very rare. Since Gascoyen described at first at Naevi of the viscera about 100 years ago, about 200 cases of intesinal hemangioma were reported sporadically. Although they are invariably benign in their histological features, they may produce serious gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction.
We recently encountered a 43-year- old man who developed severe gastrointestinal bleeding from the hemangioma,of the duodenum. Exploratory laprotomy was performed and duodenotomy was done Multiple sutures and ligatures were applied, with excision of the hemangioma.
